There may be some great giveaways!!

Hello everyone. My name is Julia Press Simmons.

Welcome to the 5th stop on the FIIF BLOG TOUR

FALLING OFF THE WAGON

Fuck It, I’m Fat: My Weight Loss Journey is a deep and personal look at the events in my life that triggered my food addiction. MY BIG AND SEXY HAS BECOME BIG AND DEADLY Well, actually, it has been deadly for quite some time. I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2005, but I’ve been fat-as-fuck since forever. I’ve lived a hard life, and food has always been my source of comfort. Whenever I’d go through something, anything, I’d eat, and eat, and eat. It didn’t matter if I was full, I didn’t eat to get full, I ate to feel better and it never ever worked. Dear Readers, I must have started this book hundreds of times over the last few years, but could never bring myself to complete it until now. I’m no longer afraid to face the truth. I’m 34 years old and I have a wicked food addiction and a serious lack of impulse control. They say the first step on the road to recovery is admitting you have a problem. Whoop, here it is.

If you are obese and tried to lose weight unsuccessfully several times in the past, then you are no stranger to the roller coaster, and YOU ARE NOT ALONE…

The very last subtitle of the book is titled “FALLING DOWN”

“So what happens when, after a few days, you get tempted with a piece of cake or some other treat?  What happens if you wake up late one morning and do not have time to take your walk?  In other words, what do you do when you fall off the wagon? You get up, you dust your ass off, and you climb right back on. Many people get discouraged when they fall off the wagon, to the point that they decide that the entire idea has to be scrapped.   Fear of failing again can keep them from even trying to continue with the diet or the healthy lifestyle choice that they have made for themselves.  So they go back into their familiar routine, despite the fact that it was not working for them.”

Sound familiar?

In this book I couple the pain I experienced in the past with the hope I have for the future. I detail the turning points of my food addiction, and the steps I’m taking to make it right. I don’t always succeed on this journey of self-control, but I own to my failures, be they big or small, and I press on. The overall theme of this book is perseverance.

Sometimes we fall down, but that’s not important. The only thing that matters is getting back up.

1.      Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Julia Press Simmons is the CEO of QMB Publishing and the author of five novels; Strawberry Mansion, Begonia Brown, Violet, Fornication Volume One & Two. She currently has a miniseries called Dawn of Destruction running on Amazon and BN.com .She is an award winning Spoken Word Artist, and Playwright. She has recently been nominated for poet of the year by AAMBC. Her play “Down There” was selected by the Shades of Black Festival Emerging Playwright’s Series in Nashville, Tenn. “Down There” also received a staged reading by the African American Playwriting Exchange in New York City. She lives in Pennsylvania with her family. Julia is currently working on her next novel, SM4: A Hustler’s Heart.

2.      What was the most enjoyable thing you have written to date? What was the hardest thing you have written to date and why?

Writing “Fornication Volume One” was by far the most fun I’ve had to date. I let my imagination run free and did not have to draw from personal heartache to give my characters depth. Writing “Fuck it, I’m Fat” is the hardest thing I’ve done thus far. Although the book is short, it is deeply personal, and I expose myself without a fictional character to hide behind.

3.      What’s your normal writing process? Do you freestyle, use outlines, write to music, or sit in silence?

I depend heavily on outlines. I will put on an old DVD and sit on the center of my bed outlining the bones of a story. It could take anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 months. After the outline is complete, I go in my office and plug a way daily until I have a working rough draft. I shoot the draft over to my editor and start the next project while I wait on her critique.

4.      What is your most recent release? Current projects you are working on? What is the next thing we can expect from you?

Fuck it, I’m Fat is my most recent release. I am currently working on Fornication Volume 3 and Volume 2 will be released soon!

Yes we all fall down, but as long as we get back up, it's gravy. I think I failed so often because I beat myself up when I made a mistake. smh Not anymore, everyday is a new day to get it right!

Hello Julia let me first congratulate you on having such a willing soul to reach out and be a purposed driven vessel in the universe for the good of souls that need to know they are not alone. My question to you is what is the one thing that drives you to over power that very urge that knocks you down? And, I would like to commend you on your progression in all that you do!

I have been a victim more often then not in my life. I am just ready to be a victor. I learned how to really love myself and I am slowly finding that the love is stronger than the addiction. This journey is a hard one, but I am committed and encouraged by people like you!
